We went to church yesterday and it was a good day. I taught my Sunday School class and they did pretty good. I had baby nursery and we had three babies, but two were more like toddlers so they played well and ended up falling asleep and one was a tiny baby and he slept the whole time! We then had a spaghetti lunch for our 3rd through 6th graders to earn money to go to summer camp. Deanna helped out by passing out drinks and making sure everyone had bread. She did a good job. She also helped take everything down when it was over. She did a good job!
Hope you had a good Sunday. We spent the afternoon sweating in the sun as Deann had a softball game in the heat of the day and the park had no shade! They ended up the game in a tie, 10-10, but that’s better than losing. Anyways, hope you have a good week!

Sorry I didn’t post last week, but Happy Easter (a little belated)! Here are my kids at our church. Our church always has this cross decorated with the flowers on Easter Sunday. It’s a nice backdrop for a photo. We’ve done this since we’ve been coming to the church.
I hope that you are having a nice Sunday where ever you are. Here’s a quick photo I took of Deanna making her craft today in Sunday School class. Some of the students made door hangers, some made bookmarks and some made crosses. They were all writing on them that Jesus is alive. That was our verse today, Luke 24:34. “The Lord has certainly been raised.”
The kids enjoyed making the crosses. You can see the tutorial on my crafting101 blog. It was really easy, something I came up with this morning since I didn’t have time to create what the Sunday School book recommend (some of their crafts are so time consuming!)
So have a great day and a great week and I hope to post later in the week!

Lately, for whatever reason, preschool choir has been pretty slim. I’m not sure why, I’ve spoken with the moms and there doesn’t seem to be a problem. But it’s been few and far between which makes me sad, but there’s not much I can do I guess. I’ve put the word out there and no one is really interested.
But a few weeks ago, Samuel was there with Jonathan and Kathryn so we did a lot of marching to some fast beat songs, we got out the instruments and played and sang some songs. We are still in the same classroom, but another class has moved in there so there’s a huge rug on the floor now where there used to be just chairs. So it’s a new experience for them. I think they like it though.
So here’s a photo of the kids playing the tambourine like a drum to “The Saints Go Marching In.” They like that song! I thought they were cute as they did this themselves, I didn’t coax them to sit down at all. I like it when the kids get along.
So I hope you are doing well. Our schools are back on their normal schedule today after three snow days and one two-hour delay. Whew! What a week! I almost couldn’t get the girls moving this morning, but they finally got up and off to school. TTFN!

Since there’s been snow on the ground here in VA since Sunday night, the number of kids at AWANA’s tonight was kind of small. We had six of our regular Cubbies and one extra - Jonathan! No one showed up to handle nursery so Jonathan joined us in our class. He was great! But then, the games person was out sick so we were winging it for games and the kids did not want to cooperate! We played Duck, Duck, Goose and Red Light, Green Light and we tried to do a relay race with a ball, but that didn’t go well. But it was a good night overall.
On another subject, I found a website online that has given me some inspiration for this website. For whatever reason, I’m having a hard time keeping up with this site and I’m not sure why, but I came across another site that has given me some ideas. It’s called http://heavenrules.wordpress.com/. I am enjoying the different book reviews and scripture references and such. I just want this site to be more than it is right now. I want people to want to come here. That’s my desire. Whether it’s to check up on me or just to get a small message from God, whatever reason, I just want people to come.
I hope you have a great rest of the week. The girls go back to school tomorrow with a two hour delay so I think life is getting back to normal! TTFN!

Geez, I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I last posted! So sorry for that! Things have been quite busy not just in life, but spiritually as well. Pastor Doug has been preaching out of Daniel and it’s been great and been an eye-opener. We’re starting Bible study classes this Sunday night and I’m taking one over Psalms by Beth Moore. It should be good! We enjoyed the Liberty Light Singers this past Sunday during the morning worship service. They were going to provide a concert in the evening, but the weather decided something else so they returned back to Liberty University.
Speaking on the weather, we had seven inches of snow at our place here in Virginia Sunday night! It stayed all day Monday and it’s still out there today, enough to keep schools closed for two days. My kids are enjoying the snow and of course, not having to go to school!
Here’s a photo of Deanna making a snow angel in the snow. She loves doing that and it’s the first time we’ve had snow, I mean, more than half an inch, since we moved here. When we lived in Germany, snow was everywhere. So Deanna made a snow angel. It’s sweet!
I hope that you are doing well. I promise to post more here. Sorry I’ve been lacking lately! TTFN! God bless!

So since this blog is called Daily Devos, I thought, geez, I have yet to write anything about anytime I’ve done my devos! So here goes.
Today I read Proverbs 3:33-35 from Bible.com. I use them sometimes to get a new perspective on things I’ve read a bunch already. Proverbs 3:33-35 reads: “The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. 34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. 35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.”
Usually I’m like, okay, I’m the wise person so I know I’ll inherit the glory, I’m not cursed, right? Well, after reading it and reading over their commentary, I can tell you, sometimes I think I might be the cursed one! I’m not saying that I have a curse on me as we think of curses, but rather when we aren’t following in the path that God wants us to, then we sometimes lean towards sinful ways even though we aren’t meaning to. So bad things happen only because they are being brought on us from Satan since if we are living in sin, then he’s going to be around.
God wants us to follow his lead and direction, meaning, we need to keep to His word and obey it even if it’s hard. That means to teach it to our kids, live it out ourselves and turn from the ways of the devil. You might not think that you’re like that, but ever decided to watch TV instead of having a quiet time or sleep in instead of getting up for your devos? I’m guilty of that, I’d admit it. I’m not a morning person at all! But no one says they have to be in the morning although God wants us to spend time with Him in the morning so that we are fed all day long. But it doesn’t always happen that way. That’s just one example.
I hope that you’ll look at your life and see how you are following God and try to keep from doing sinful even if they are little and not the big ones like murder. Have a blessed day!

If you haven’t heard either from me or someone else, back in August, one of the couples at our church had their baby girl at 23 weeks and 1 day gestation. She came out only weighing 1lb and 10oz! Well, we have been praising God because on New Year’s Eve, she came home from the hospital! Now, she’s not out of the woods, but she’s home and alive and doing well. Here’s a photo of her in her car seat. It’s neat to see her in a car seat headed home!
So Sunday night, we had an evening of praise and worship praising God for His faithfullness through it all. The service lasted an hour and a half full of congregational singing, the children’s choir, soloist, trios and duets all evening long. Here’s a photo of the children’s choir singing. I totally forgot my regular camera so this is the best I could get with my cell phone’s camera. I wish it could zoom, LOL! Deanna took a photo of me while I sang “God is in Control” but it didn’t come out good at all since I was standing so far away. It was a great night for sure!
Sorry I haven’t posted much lately. Not much has been going on and I’ve been distracted with other things, but I hope to get better and post more. Hope your January has gone well!

We had a great service Sunday morning! It was our dedication Sunday of our new sanctuary. You could just feel the Lord’s presence there. It was great! Also, our pastor’s youngest daughter was baptized by him Sunday morning too. It was such a precious moment!
I also got a great photo of our new stained glass window. Well, it’s the best I could do with my camera phone since I can’t zoom in! I took it Sunday night before evening services. I think it’s really pretty and when the sun hits it just right, wow!
Also, in the evening services, Pastor Doug is going through the book of Nehemiah in the Old Testament. I have read Nehemiah, but it’s been ages so it’s a great book so far to sink yourself into. We have done chapters one and two so far.
Well, I hope you had a great Sunday in the Lord! TTFN!

Today was a really good day at church! The sermon was on faithfulness and how God is faithful to us. My friend Paul came up on the stage to give a short testimony to God’s faithfulness. I can’t remember if I posted it here, but their daughter was born premature at 23 weeks and 1 day back in August 2008. We were praising God because she came home New Year’s Eve perfectly fine! God is awesome and faithful to those who are faithful to him. We studied about Daniel where even though he was being told he needed to change on teh outside, he refused to change on teh inside and stayed faithful to the Lord. That’s how we need to be, faithful to the Lord and His ways.
I forgot to take a picture of our new stained glass window in the new sanctuary tonight. I tried this morning, but the sun was coming through it and didn’t look right, but I’ll try and remember Wednesday night when I’m at the church. It’s super pretty!
Well, that’s all for today. I hope you are having a great week so far!

Hello all! I hope that you’ve enjoyed the past few weeks with holidays and such. I know I’m ready to get back onto a schedule and get the kids back in school and such. We’ve been staying up late and sleeping in.
I just wanted to say that I hope everyone will try and get to church tomorrow somewhere where you live. We are studying about Joshua and the Walls of Jericho and how it’s important to obey God in all circumstances. I wanted to elaborate a bit on my resolution as far as stewardship goes. I’m pretty good at following God’s commandments, you know, thou shalt not lie, steal, kill, etc. but there are other things that I need to work on personally as far as following everything that God commands. I really want to try and be a better mom to my kids and teach them the ways of the Lord. Some other things I want to work on are between me and the Lord, but He knows what they are.
If you are in my area of Virginia, you are invited to attend our new sanctuary dedication January 11th at 11am. If you aren’t sure what church we’re at, it’s Enon Baptist Church. You can visit their website here. If you come, be sure to say hi! I will be up in the choir, probably on the end of the second row, the one with the red hair. I’d love to meet you!
Hope you have a great Sunday in the Lord!
